What is the “secret” in Think and Grow Rich that Napoleon Hill refers to and is supposedly said on every page of the book?

LAKE ORION, MICHIGAN
After studying and speaking to hundreds of the world’s most successful people, Napoleon Hill wrote Think and Grow Rich. In this classic book, Hill shares the secrets to success—the things that Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and so many others did to become successful. But the most compelling secret appears in the title. The most useful secret, the secret used by all the hundreds of persons studied by Hill, is the first word in the title of his book—THINK!
I suspect that most people focus on the last 2 words in the title, Grow Rich, giving too little attention to that all important first word—THINK. I believe that using the word THINK is Hill’s way of focusing the reader’s attention on all the mental processes that are required to become successful. Hill makes this clear as the book unfolds.
Hill repeatedly writes about the importance of a definite major purpose in our lives, a burning desire, a positive mental attitude, and that whatever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve. Beliefs, desires, attitudes, ideas, recognizing opportunities, motivation, and so on all have their origins in one’s mind. These are mental activities that move us towards success. Each one of these essential activities begins in the MIND. Being so, it is altogether accurate for Hill to entitle his book THINK and Grow Rich.
Since what one focuses on, thinks and believes may propel that person to success, it is also true that the improper use of one’s mind may lead to mediocrity or even worse. My experience parallels Hill’s instructions: What we think about, what we focus on, what we tell ourselves and what we believe, will all work together to influence what we achieve in life. If we exercise positive control over what we “feed” our minds, what we allow our minds to focus on and believe, then we can achieve great things.
Correspondingly, if we do not control our minds, if we do not discipline our minds to focus on our most important goals, if we do not use our minds to energize our efforts, if we waste our mental energies on the inane and irrelevant or on coarse gossip and the denigration of others, then we are wasting and misusing our mental powers. It should be no surprise that one who invests his/her energy into such meaningless activities is not likely to experience great success. So, to those ambitious few in every generation, who want much more out of life, I provide the following exercise. I can introduce you to Napoleon Hill’s timeless and proven techniques by encouraging you to THINK about your answers to the following questions:
• What do you want to be?
• What do you want to do with your life?
• What do you want to achieve in life?
• What do you want to be known for?
• What are you very
